What documents do I need to become a Harkoda-approved vendor?
To work with Harkoda, you’ll need to provide the following:
- Proof of a registered business in Ontario
- WSIB Clearance Certificate (showing good standing)
- Liability insurance of at least $2 million ($5 million+ for major projects)
- A signed Harkoda-approved contract outlining scope, payment terms, and timelines
- A City of Toronto Business License (if applicable)
Are trade-specific licenses required?
Yes, depending on your services, you may need additional certifications. Here are some common ones:
- General Construction & Renovation – Building Renovator License
- Electrical Work – Licensed Electrical Contractor (LEC), registered with ESA
- Plumbing & HVAC – Master Plumber License, Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing, TSSA License for HVAC
- Hazardous Material Removal – Asbestos Abatement Certification, Mold or Lead Removal Certification
- Elevators & Escalators – TSSA Elevator Contractor License
- Roofing & Exterior Work – Working at Heights Certification
What safety requirements do vendors need to meet?
A Health & Safety Program (following OHSA standards)
- Fall Protection Training (if working above 3m)
- Confined Space Training (for mechanical rooms, crawlspaces, or underground areas)
How does Harkoda verify vendors?
Before approval, we conduct a due diligence check, which includes:
- Reviewing at least 3 references from similar projects
- Confirming if permits & approvals are required from the City of Toronto
- Ensuring all licenses, insurance, and WSIB coverage are up to date
When will my application be approved?
We approve vendors once we have received and verified the following:
- All required licenses & certifications
- Valid insurance & WSIB clearance
- A signed contract with clear scope, terms, and timeline
- Necessary permits (if applicable)
